A color filter substrate and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to increase the transmittance for a unit pixel, thereby realizing high brightness characteristic, by forming the unit pixel to include a white color filter in addition to red, green, and blue color filters. A white color filter(138) is formed by pattern-etching a substrate(130), wherein the substrate is a transparent type insulating substrate. A black matrix(131) is formed on the resultant substrate including the white color filter. A red color filter(135), a green color filter(136), and a blue color filter(137) are alternately formed within an opening regions defined by the black matrix. The white color filter, the red color filter, the green color filter, and the blue color filter have the same thickness. |
