PURPOSE: A gas range apparatus and a method for automatically forming the proper size of a heating area on a bottom surface of a cooling container by the combination of multiple small burner heads are provided to fit a burner to the size of a cooling container. CONSTITUTION: A gas range apparatus for automatically forming the proper size of a heating area on a bottom surface of a cooling container by the combination of multiple small burner heads includes a head operation unit, a gas intake unit, and an ignition control unit. A plurality of small gas burner heads are two-dimensionally arranged at uniform intervals. The head operation unit selectively operates the small gas burner head, and forms an area in which a cooking container is heated. The gas intake unit controls the gas which flows into the gas range device. The ignition control unit heats the small gas burner head.
