<p>PURPOSE: A data processing device, a recording device, and a control method of the data processing device are provided to easily implement colorization of a print material which is printed with black and white colors by applying the recording device corresponding to a command system different from a conventional device. CONSTITUTION: A processing unit (32) identifies a first command system which includes a command designating an attribute of recording type and a command of a second command system which includes a command designating an attribute which is not defined in the first command system. If a command determining the recording type by the command of the first command system and a recording commend including data which is arranged according to the defined recording type by the command of the firs t command system are inputted, the processing unit arranges the data included in the recording command according to the recording type which is defined by the command of the second command system and produces recording data.
