<p>PURPOSE: A lighting system and a controlling method thereof are provided to secure the red light wavelength and supplement the blue light wavelength, and to change the wavelength of an LED light source. CONSTITUTION: A general light source (102) emits light of the red light wavelength. An LED light source (104) emits light of the blue light wavelength. A power supply unit (112) supplies power to the general light source and the LED light source. An input unit (300) receives data values of the light quantity, light emitting time, and the wavelength for the growth of plants. A measuring unit (200) measures the light quantity, light emitting time, and the wavelength. A control unit (400) compares the data value from the input unit and the measured value of the measuring unit, and outputs a control signal to the power supply source based on the comparison result for controlling the power supplied to the light sources. A wavelength changing unit (500) is installed in between the control unit and the power supply unit.
