FIELD: radio engineering, communication.SUBSTANCE: generation and use of positioning reference signals (PRS) are disclosed. The method involves generating a PRS to be used in a wireless orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system. According to the invention, the method includes steps of determining a time-frequency pattern of resource elements (RE) to be used for transmitting said PRS, wherein said time-frequency pattern includes at least two OFDM symbols, and assigning, for each of said at least two OFDM symbols, a value to each of a certain number of RE within that OFDM symbol. The values assigned to said number of RE correspond to elements in a modulation sequence having a length equal to said number of RE, and the values are to be used for modulating OFDM subcarriers corresponding to said RE within that OFDM symbol.EFFECT: high accuracy of positioning.16 cl, 11 dwg |
