FIELD: power engineering.SUBSTANCE: fuel assembly of a nuclear reactor is made as capable of expansion of nuclear fuel contain in it. The fuel assembly of the nuclear reactor includes a shell, walls of which tightly close nuclear fuel foam, comprising multiple interconnected open cavities or multiple closed cavities. Cavities provide for expansion of foam towards cavities; such expansion may be caused by heat generation and/or formation of gaseous fission products. Cavities compress or reduce in volume in case of foam expansion. Pressure at walls of the shell considerably reduces as a result of foam expansion towards the cavities or inside them, but not towards the shell walls. Therefore, cavities provide space for foam expansion.EFFECT: reduced probability of fission products discharge into a coolant.154 cl, 18 dwg |
