The method involves directing a tachometer (10) to direct a straight line (12) of a target system (13) toward a first mark (5). The tachometer is used to measure the position of the mark. A value (theta 1) of an angle of installation enters a line (103) parallel with a segment of two longitudinal reference points (A, B) is calculated by a transverse reference point (C) from the measured positions of the first mark, second and third marks (2, 3). The straight line passing through the point of the target system is located by a fourth mark (4) through a placement point in the first mark. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring speed of a vehicle traveling on a road.
