Substituted 2-(3H-indol-2-yl)-3-phenyl-propanenitrile compounds (I) are new. Substituted 2-(3H-indol-2-yl)-3-phenyl-propanenitrile compounds of formula (I) are new. X : S, O or C(CH 3) 2; R4-R7 : H, 1-6C alkyl, NO 2 or phenyl; either R1 : -S-R8, -O-R8 or -NR8R9; R2, R3 : H, 1-6C alkyl or -O-R10; or R1+R3 : phenyl group of formula (II); R8, R9 : H, 1-6C alkyl, phenyl or (1-6C alkyl)phenyl (all optionally substituted by -OH, -CN, -NO 2 or -COOR); R : 1-6C alkyl or H; and R10 : H or 1-6C alkyl.
