The method involves introducing air inside a filtering module (2) of diatomaceous filter (1) in a pulsating manner to remove a cake of diatoms and retained materials inside a fabric envelope (4) of the filtering module, where the filtering module includes baffles that are formed by spacers (3) located inside the filtering module to support circulation of air and water in the filtering module. A layer of diatoms is formed on the envelope to filter traveling through the layer toward interior of the filtering module. An independent claim is also included for a filter for implementing a method for unclogging a filtering module of diatomaceous filter.
