A color filter substrate and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent step between color filters and a black matrix by using a planarizing layer, thereby reducing a cost and improving productivity by forming no overcoat layer. Color filters(R,G,B) are formed on a substrate(112) and express colors by transmitting light of a specific wavelength band among white light applied from the outside. A black matrix(116) is formed between the color filters, and blocks the white light applied from the outside. A planarizing layer(118) is formed on the color filters without being formed on the black matrix, and removes a stepped portion generated between the color filter and the black matrix. |
