PURPOSE: A logging device and a method for compensating a time gap between a server and the logging device are provided to use log data as reliable time information when the local time of the logging device is changed by an operation of a user or the difference of a local clock. CONSTITUTION: A time difference calculation unit (120) receives server time by requesting the server time to a server and calculates a time difference between local time and the server time. A check period timer (110) checks the arrival of a predetermined check period. A time difference compensation unit (130) calculates a changed value of the local time by using the difference between current local time and local time of a previous check period per check period. The time difference compensation unit periodically applies the difference between the changed value of the local time and the check period to the time difference. A log accumulation unit (140) accumulates log data by checking the generation of an event and applying the time difference to event generation time information.
