PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing silicon, capable of efficiently discharging liquid-phase silicon in which impurities are concentrated by unidirectionally solidifying a part of molten silicon in a container and capable of suppressing adhesion or fixation of impurities to a sidewall or the like of the container.SOLUTION: A method for producing silicon includes a step of unidirectionally solidifying a part of molten silicon containing impurities in a container and concentrating the impurities in a silicon liquid phase and a step of discharging the liquid phase silicon in which the impurities are concentrated from the container in a contact state of molten salts.
