PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique facilitating confirmation of an obstacle or the like around an own vehicle during parking.SOLUTION: A parking assist device comprises: an image conversion means for converting an image picked up by an image pickup means picking up an image around a vehicle into an over view image when viewing the vehicle side from a virtual viewpoint set above the vehicle and a back view image when viewing the vehicle side from a virtual viewpoint set behind the vehicle; and an image switching means switching to the back view image when a reverse travel signal indicating the selection of reverse travel as the traveling direction of the vehicle is detected and switching to the over view image when the reverse travel signal and a parking spot for parking the vehicle are detected.
