PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic musical instrument capable of increasing the interest at performance time.SOLUTION: An electronic musical instrument includes: a plurality of cylindrical keys 20 arranged in matrix; a housing 12 fitted with each key 20 vertically movable in the cylindrical axis direction; a solenoid actuator for movably supporting and driving the key 20 in the cylindrical direction and in the peripheral direction; projection amount detection means for detecting a projection amount of the key 20 in the cylindrical direction; rotation amount detection means for detection a rotation amount of the key 20 in the peripheral direction; and a controller. The controller includes: a sound generation control portion for allowing the input of the key 20 to generate a sound designated by the key 20; and a sound nature setting part for setting the nature of the sound allotted to the key 20 on the basis of the projection amount and the rotation amount detected with respect to the key 20.
