The two-piece nozzle needle (10) has two nozzle needle-main components (110,120) and is adapted such that a frictional connection is temporarily set up directly between the two main components or during an opening of the two-piece nozzle needle. The frictional connection between the two main components is set up by deforming one of the two main components. The deformation is particularly a radius change of one main component and a distortion or bulge of the other main component. An independent claim is included for a method for controlling a fuel injector, particularly a common rail diesel injector of a motor vehicle.
