The extruder has a screw cylinder (100) provided with a feed opening (105) for feeding of a plastic scrap at an end and an exhaust opening for a plastic granule at another end. A screw (200) is provided with working zones such as compression zones, conveying zones and homogenizing zones that are defined by screw sections with different geometries. Degassing regions (109a-109d) are provided in a wall of the cylinder. Heating zones are realized by electrical heating elements on a wall of the cylinder, where positions of the heating zones partially correspond to position of the degassing regions. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing purified synthetic granules of plastics scrap.
