The present invention pertains to stabilized Abeta oligomer compositions. Methods for generating stabilized Abeta oligomer compounds are also provided herein. Additionally, screening assays employing the Abeta oligomer compounds and methods for generating therapeutics with the Abeta oligomers are also provided. In a particular embodiment, the Abeta oligomer described herein is comprised of Abeta42 peptide.
