<p>The present invention provides an item which is provided with at least a portion which is provided to be detectable by x-ray detection apparatus. The item includes at least a portion which includes an x-ray detectable material such as barium or barium sulphate such that the presence of said portion is detectable by x-ray detection apparatus. The item can, in one embodiment also be rendered detectable by metal detection apparatus by including metal particles in at least a portion thereof. The invention is particularly useful for items which are for use in the food manufacturing industry.</p>
