<p>A rudder (8) for a ship is disposed behind the screw propeller (6) of the ship (2) and includes a rudder shaft (82) and a rudder plate section (84) which is mounted to the rudder shaft (82). The pivot axis (82C) of the rudder shaft (82) is oriented vertically and is positioned so as to intersect the rotation axis (6C) of the screw propeller (6). The rudder plate section (84) is provided with: a starboard-side rudder plate (841) which extends from above to below, passing through a region behind the starboard-side turning region of the screw propeller (6); and a port-side rudder plate (842) which extends from above to below, passing through a region behind the port-side turning region of the screw propeller (6). The rudder shaft (82) is supported so as to be capable of pivoting about the rudder shaft pivot axis (82C) relative to the body (4) of the ship (2).</p> |
