PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a reformed aluminum nitride sintered compact having very excellent light transmission characteristic, especially usable preferably as a translucent cover of a light source with high luminous efficiency, in hjgh yield.SOLUTION: A production method of reformed aluminum nitride sintered compact uses an aluminum nitride sintered compact with 150 ppm or less impurity metal concentration except aluminum, 0.5 wt.% or less oxygen concentration and 95% or higher relative density as a starting raw material, and performs heat treatment under an oxidizing atmosphere in a temperature range of 1,400-2,000°C so as to obtain a reformed aluminum nitride sintered compact with 0.08 wt.% of oxygen concentration. |
