This open door holding device (32) has: a first engagement member (40) which pivots within a pivot hole (24) about a first axis (X1) together with a pivot shaft (14) as the door is opened and closed; and a second engagement member (66) which can swing about a second axis (X2) parallel to the first axis. When the door approaches an open door position (FIG. 4d), an engagement protrusion (62-1) slides on and engages with the second engagement member (66) and swings and advances the second engagement member to the outside of a movement path against the pressing force of a spring. If there is an attempt to close the door from the open door position, the second engagement member (66) engages with the engagement protrusion (62-1) to stop the pivoting thereof and holds the door at the open door position. The line of action of second force (F2) with which the engagement protrusion swings the second engagement member against the pressing force of the spring when closing the door is set to extend along a path closer to the second axis (X2) than the line of action of first force (F1) with which the engagement protrusion swings the second engagement member against the pressing force of the spring when opening the door.
