<p>A system comprising a plurality of cosmic ray muon detectors each positioned to detect cosmic ray muons that traverse a heap and operable to generate a signal in response to cosmic ray muons that impact the detectors. A processor can then generate a density distribution of a portion of the heap based on the signals generated by the plurality of cosmic ray muon detectors.</p>
