Provided is an optical member which suppresses the occurrence of moire and is capable of providing a liquid crystal display device that has excellent mechanical strength and high luminance. An optical member of the present invention sequentially comprises a polarizing plate, a light diffusion layer, a reflective polarizer and a prism sheet in this order. The polarizing plate typically has a polarizer and a protective layer that is arranged on at least one side of the polarizer. The reflective polarizer is typically a multilayer laminate in which layers that have birefringence and layers that do not substantially have birefringence are laminated alternately. The prism sheet typically has a base portion and a prism portion.
