摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a raw material of a high-speed tool steel excellent in a hot workability, with which aimed amounts of Ca can be added while decreasing S and N to low contents.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a raw material of a high-speed tool steel includes: a first process, in which molten steel having a component composition for high-speed tool steel is prepared; the second process, in which the prepared molten steel is refined with slag to decrease S in the molten steel into ≤0.004 mass%; the third process, in which Ca is added into the molten steel refined with the slag to adjust Ca in the molten steel to 0.005-0.015 mass%; and the fourth process, in which the molten steel, to which Ca is added, is cast. Preferably, the molten steel to be prepared in the first process is subjected to vacuum refining. Furthermore, in the molten steel before casted in the fourth process, preferably, N is decreased into ≤0.01 mass%.
