[Problem] To provide a diffraction element allowing the number of parts to be reduced and a support mechanism to be kept compact, and to provide an optical pickup device provided with the diffraction element. [Solution] The optical pickup device (1) is provided with a DOE (200) for conducting BD light to a 4-part sensor (S1), a support part (300) provided to a housing (H) accommodating an optical system and supporting the DOE (200), and a spring member (400) for pressing the DOE (200) against the support part (300). The DOE (200) is provided with a configuration in which a rotation shaft (201) extending in one direction and a plate (202) provided with a diffraction structure (203) on one face are integrally formed. The support part (300) is provided with grooves (304a, 304b) in which the rotation shaft (201) is capable of rotating and moving in the longitudinal direction. The spring member (400) is provided with pressing parts (404a, 404b) for pressing the top surface of the rotation shaft (201) arranged in the groove (304a, 304b).
