The present invention relates to a secondary battery electrode binder resin that contains a monomer unit (a-1) which has an alicyclic skeleton, and a monomer unit (a-2) which has a carboxyl group. By using a secondary battery electrode binder resin that contains 5 to 55 percent by mass of the monomer unit (a-2) which has the carboxyl group in the resin, adhesion to a collector is improved and it is possible to provide a secondary battery electrode composition which has excellent electrolyte resistance. By using the secondary battery electrode composition, the elution of the binder in electrolyte or swelling caused by the absorption of the electrolyte is prevented, and thus it is possible to achieve a high service life of a secondary battery.
