PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel rocking chair type ion battery which can take the place of a lithium ion battery.SOLUTION: The oxygen shuttle battery comprises: a pair of electrodes which are at least partially constituted by a compound on which intercalation of oxygen can be performed; and an electrolyte interposed between the pair of electrodes and permeable to oxygen ions. The compound on which intercalation of oxygen can be performed is at least one compound selected from compounds expressed by e.g. the general formula AMO, where A is one or more monovalent, divalent or trivalent elements; M is one or more monovalent, divalent, trivalent or quadrivalent elements; and 2.0<Z≤3.0. |
