This invention provides an optical touch panel device, a computer program, and a recording medium capable of matching a position detection capability with an image display capability. The optical touch panel device is able to optically detect the position of an object on a display surface using multiple types of resolving power, and sets the resolving power for position detection in accordance with either the screen resolution of the display surface or the image resolution of the image displayed on the display surface. The optical touch panel device sets the position detection resolving power so that a value obtained by averaging the distances between optical paths used in position detection for the entire display surface is smaller than either the dot pitch or the pixel pitch, and, moreover, is as close to either the dot pitch or the pixel pitch as possible. The position detection capability and the image display capability of the optical touch panel device match up, and the image corresponding to position detection does not make the user feel like something is out of place. |
