PURPOSE: A flare shell using visible ray communications and a control method thereof are provided to transmit a signal including user location information through the position of a bursting flare shell and to be capable of efficiently sending a rescue signal when requesting a rescue in an emergency situation such as a disaster. CONSTITUTION: A flare shell using visible ray communications includes a light emitting unit(220), an interface unit(210), a signal generator(230), and a mixer unit(240). The light emitting unit radiates visible rays with a predetermined wavelength. The interface unit receives user input information. The signal generator generates a signal pattern corresponding to the user input information and outputs a signal pattern. The mixer unit transmits the signal pattern by mixing the signal pattern with the visible rays of light.
