The plug connector set has a first connector housing containing bifurcated contact element (1) and a second connector housing containing a flat contact element (9). The flat contact element is provided with a pre-contact section (10) which is inserted into the gap formed between the fork tines (3a,3b) of the bifurcated contact element, so that the contact section is made to contact the pre-contact zone (7) of bifurcated contact element. A main contact portion (11) of the flat contact element is made to contact main contact zone (6) of the bifurcated contact element.
