A girth securing assembly 14 comprising an elongate flexible support member 32 having first 34 and second 36 end regions attached to a carrier 12, preferably a saddle body. First 44 and second 46 mounting members mount respective first 48 and second 50 girth straps to the support member. A third mounting member 40 is arranged on the support member between the first and second mounting and mounts the support member to the carrier. The first, second and third mounting members are configured to allow relative movement between the respective mounting members and the support member. Preferably the support member is arranged in a W configuration. A further subsidiary portion (138A, fig 11) may be provided on the support member to limit the movement thereof. A saddle incorporating the assembly in addition to a cushioning arrangement, stirrup hanger and seat is also claimed.
