[Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Group XXV] Sheet metal nuts, particularly designed for effecting tuning or other adjustments in radio &c. apparatus have the metal, round the hole, depressed at 15, 16, to form a helical edge 17 and slits 12 forming resilient tongues 14 that are bent and adapted to engage by smooth-rounded ends 19, the opposite flank of the thread to the edge 17. The part of the screw between the edge 17 and the tongues is in compression or tension according to the side of the nut from which the screw is inserted and smooth engagement without backlash is obtained. |
