The axial fan has an inner electric motor (1) and a fan wheel that is firmly connected to the electric motor. A motor housing (5) is formed in a flow direction behind the fan wheel for retaining of motor electronics. An outflow opening is oriented in the direction of the motor housing in such a manner that an air flow emitted from the outlet opening is guided onto the motor housing. The outlet opening forms an opening gap, which is extended over a part of the circumference of the motor housing.
