A compression molding apparatus and method are provided to mold a preferable molded product, including fiber while designing a press machine with a simple structure when supplying a molten material to an open lower mold by means of a material supply device then closing the lower mold and the upper mold, and compressing the molten material. When supplying a resin material (M) including a fiber to an open lower mold (13) from a material supply device (15), then closing the lower mold (13) and the upper mold (12), and compressing the material (M), installed are: a material heating mechanism (15) for melting the material (M) into a molten state, an upper plate (21) to which the upper mold (12) is attached and a lower plate (18) to which the lower mold (13) is attached, at least three position sensors (20) for detecting a distance between the upper mold (12) and the lower mold (13) or the upper plate (21) and the lower plate (18), and at least three compression hydraulic cylinders (22) installed to any one of the upper plate (21) and the lower plate (18) and individually controlled according to information of the position sensors (20). |
