The invention provides a rear portion structure of a straddle type vehicle, which can reduce air resistance with respect to an advancing wind and show a good appearance quality. The upper parts of rear wheels are covered with rear covers (60L, 60R), and the rear part of the vehicle is provided with a grab bar (62). Recess parts (70L, 70R) are respectively disposed on the rear covers (60L, 60R). The U-shaped grab bar (62) is provided with a grab bar body (75) for a passenger to hold and vehicle side installation parts (76L, 76R) disposed at two sides of the vehicle. The vehicle side installation parts (76L, 76R) are respectively received by the recess parts (70L, 70R). The rear covers (60L, 60R) and the vehicle side installation parts (76L, 76R) of the grab bar (62) form a continuous surface.
