<p>PURPOSE: A guide wire is provided to improve torsional strength and lateral strength by allowing the steering of the guide wire through a long and complex area. CONSTITUTION: A guide wire (10) includes an elongated guide member which is inserted into a body vessel. The guide member limits a longitudinal axis and includes a rear segment (16) and a front segment (18). The front segment has an area smaller than that of the rear segment. The front segment includes one or more fingers (21). The width of one or more fingers in a first direction is larger than the width of the front segment in a first direction.</p> |
