<p>PURPOSE: A composition for predicting drug resistance of a therapeutic agent for treating chronic hepatitis B and a prediction method thereof are provided to individually predict drug resistance according to the patient characteristics and to efficiently determine medical treatment guidelines. CONSTITUTION: A biomarker composition for predicting drug resistance of a pyrimidine-based antiviral agent is a mutant of HBV X/precore gene. The composition is selected among: a gene in which 1753th base (thymine) is substituted with adenine, cytosine, or guanine or a gene in which 1846th base (adenine) is substituted with cytosine, guanine, or thymine, telbivudine, clevudine, and lamivudine containing a combination of the genes. A method for detecting a marker for predicting drug resistance of the pyrimidine-based antiviral agent selected among telbivudine, clevudine, and lamivudine comprises the steps of: isolating DNA from a test sample; amplifying T1753V mutation site and/or A1846B mutation site of X/precore gene of the DNA using a primer; and analyzing the amplified DNA sequence and determining the base at 1758th site or 1846th site among the mutation sites.</p> |
