PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided to maintain security in order to prevent the content of a message displayed in a display part from being revealed to the others. CONSTITUTION: A display unit (151) outputs a message area for displaying a message transmitted or received through a wireless communication part. A control unit (180) controls the display unit to overlap at least a part of the message area with a screen area in order to prevent at least a part of the message displayed in the message area from being revealed to the outside. The message area includes a display area and an editing area. The display area displays at least one of the received message or the transmitted message. The editing area edits a transmission target message.
