BIO-BASED TONER COMPOSITION COMPRISING A THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER

Aspects of the invention may include embodiments having a thermoplastic toner composition comprising a mixture of (a) an amorphous thermoplastic polymer having a carboxyl or hydroxyl functional polyester wherein the carboxyl or hydroxyl functional polyester is derived from a dianhydrohexitol, a first diacid moiety, and a second diacid moiety, optionally a monoacid may also be included. The polymer may be derived from at least one bio-based monomer. The polymer may be a Tg between about 50°C. and about 80°C. Also included in the toner may be (b) a coloring agent dispersed in the amorphous thermoplastic polymer; wherein the toner is in the form of a powder having a mean particle size of less than about 30 µm. The invention relates to toners, for example, which may be used in copiers and printers.
