PURPOSE: An antibacterial composition containing a Brachybotrys paridiformis Maximowicz extract is provided to show superior antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial pharmaceutical composition contains a Brachybotrys paridiformis Maximowicz extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using a solvent selected among water, C1-C4 alcohols, and a mixture thereof. The extract has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. An antibacterial quasi-drug composition contains the extract as an active ingredient.
