A backlight unit and an LCD including the same are provided to prevent drooping of an optical member and a lamp while brightness uniformity is maintained by disposing at least one lamp guide, which includes a holder part and a first support integrally formed, for each lamp. A bottom cover(52) has an opened upper side and an internal space where a plurality of lamps(58) is disposed to a predetermined height. An optical member is disposed on the lamps to be spaced apart from the lamps at a predetermined interval. A lamp guide(56) includes a first support(56c) coupled to the bottom cover, a holder(56a) connected to the first support and having one opened side to holder the lamp, and a second support(56b) connected to the holder and supporting the optical member under the optical member. The optical member includes a diffusion plate and an optical sheet. The diffusion(60) shields an opened part of the bottom cover and diffuses light. The optical sheet(62) includes at least one prism sheet which changes the path of light incident from the diffusion plate(60) and at least one diffusion sheet which diffuses light incident from the diffusion plate. |
