PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for managing a cache device are provided to avoid a significant increase in garbage collecting cost as well as to increase the input/output (I/O) processing speed of a hybrid storage unit by efficiently utilizing an over-provisioning space reserved as an extra space. CONSTITUTION: If a pre-fetch request for the first page of a storage unit is received, a configuration part (110) assigns a second page to perform the pre-fetch to an over-provisioning space (OPS). A management part (120) pre-fetches data of the first page into the second page of the OPS. If the pre-fetch is performed, the management part manages the state of the second page as a pre-fetched state. If garbage collection related to the second page is performed, the management part manages the state of the second page as an invalid state.
