PURPOSE: A surgical sponge and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to minimize unnecessary motions in the middle of operation and to prevent bits of thread or cotton fibers from remaining inside a body of a patient as the cotton fabrics are not separated from the surgical sponge. CONSTITUTION: X-ray sensing thread (20) is inserted into a spandex race nonwoven fabric pad (10) made of absorbent cotton. A surgical sponge manufacturing method includes the following steps of: manufacturing an upper spandex race nonwoven fabric pad; blowing the absorbent cotton; carding a web with the blown absorbent cotton; laminating two or more layers of the web and supplying the upper spandex race nonwoven fabric pad and the X-ray sensing thread on the top of the web layers; forming the sponge by connecting the laminated web layers, X-ray sensing thread, and the upper spandex race nonwoven fabric pad through a water-punching process; and drying and winding the manufactured sponge. |
