PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for separation of smelting dust, capable of improving a rate of recovery of copper components from the smelting dust.SOLUTION: An apparatus for separation of smelting dust comprises: a first separation tank 41 wherein a slurry obtained by introducing the smelting dust into a leachate is introduced; a first upflow generator 43 for generating an upflow in the slurry in the first separation tank; a first separator 40 wherein particles with high sedimentation velocity are separated from those with low sedimentation velocity; an introduction passage 46 through which the slurry staying in an upper part of the first separation tank is introduced into a second separation tank 51; the second separation tank; a second upflow generator 53 for generating an upflow in the slurry in the second separation tank; and a second separator 50 wherein particles with high sedimentation velocity are separated from those with low sedimentation velocity.
