METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING INTESTINAL COLIC IN INFANTS WITH EXCESS LACTOSE-DEPENDENT BACTERIAL GROWTH IN INTESTINES

A method for diagnosing the intestinal colic in the infants with excess lactose-dependent bacterial growth in the intestines provides for the test for lactose-dependent bacterial growth, namely hydrogen respiratory test with lactose feeding load at a dose of 1.0 g/kg. Lactose is dissolved in 10 mL of the warm water. The basal hydrogen level is measured. Then hydrogen level is measured every 15-30 minutes within 3 hours. The increase of hydrogen level by 10-20 ppm relative to the basal one is indicative of the intestinal colic in the infants with excess lactose-dependent bacterial growth in the intestines.
