SURGICAL STAPLING APPARATUS WITH POWERED RETRACTION A surgical stapling apparatus (50) is provided. The surgical stapling apparatus (50) comprising: an actuation shaft (8); and a retraction mechanism (2) including: a drive shaft (26); a main shaft (20) partially surrounded by the drive shaft (26); a clutch (23) including first and second discs (23a, 23b), the first disc (23a) coupled to the drive shaft (26) and the second disc (23b) rotatably mounted on the main shaft (20), the first disc (23a) configured to operatively engage the second disc (23b); and a pulley (21) coupled to the main shaft (20), the pulley (21) operatively attached to the actuation shaft (8) such that the pulley (21) urges the actuation shaft (8) from a first position to a different second position upon a complete rotation of the pulley (21), wherein the main shaft (20) rotates upon engagement of the first and second discs (23a, 23b). |
