The wedging and spreading device (10) comprises an actuator (16) that is used for actuation of the wedging and spreading device casing. A force sensor (18) measures the clamping and spreading force affecting tissue (14) of a patient. A controller (20) controls the clamping and spreading force acting on the tissue. A connecting device (26) releasably connects the device casing with a surgical instrument (28). An independent claim is included for method for controlling medical wedging and spreading device.
