PURPOSE: A battery system protective device is provided to significantly improve the safety of an automotive battery system by preventing the battery system from damage in case of a rear collision. CONSTITUTION: An automotive battery system protective device comprises a battery system (1), an air bag module (3), a collision detection sensor (5), and an airbag controller (7). The battery system is arranged in the rear side of a vehicle. The air bag module is installed in the rear of the vehicle behind the battery system. The air bag module absorbs shock in the rear collision of the vehicle. The collision detection sensor is installed on a vehicle body to detect the rear collision of the vehicle. The airbag controller receives signal from the collision detection sensor to control the operation of the air bag module.
