PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a plated component, capable of achieving the improvement of productivity while achieving the improvement of slidability required for a rod as a steel bar or a steel pipe, and to provide the plated component.SOLUTION: A steel base material 11 is subjected to a quenching step, a machining step, a plating step, and a tempering step to form a rod 4. In the quenching step, two axially spaced portions of the steel base material 11 are quenched to form quenched portions 12 and 13. In the machining step, plastic working or cutting work is performed between the two quenched portions 12 and 13 to form a whole-circumference groove 4C1 in a machined portion 4C. In the plating step, the quenched portion 12 is not plated, but a portion including the quenched portion 13 is plated to form a plating layer 16. In the tempering step, the respective quenched portions 12 and 13 are tempered. |
