<p>The invention relates to improvements to feeding fence assemblies comprising a displaceable elongate frame (20) and a feeding fence (30) arranged on the frame and having a number of passage openings (40) for the head of an animal. The improvements relate to an increased stroke length for such a feeding fence assembly which is provided with a mat (60) which unfolds as the frame is displaced forward, an improved drive for the frame of such an assembly, an improved fodder detector for determining whether fodder lies at a determined distance from a passage opening, and a spraying device for spraying fodder with flavourings so that it is consumed substantially parallel to the feeding fence. The invention also relates to a method for selectively feeding animals on the basis of animal recognition and on the basis of distances measured between passage openings and fodder placed in front of them.</p> |
